Family Animoto

This is my first Animoto video for my graduate class. The video is about my family and It was very challenging but I had a lot of fun creating it because it was personal. While creating this video, many ideas came to my head about the usage of such a program in my teaching. Examining my existing curriculum, I came to the conclusion where the use of Animoto will support my learning objectives. For example, Animoto could be used for the following ideas: * At the start of the school year, students could use Animoto to introduce themselves or their classmates. * Students can illustrate their own poetry using digital images they find on Internet or ones they take. * Animoto can be used to present research information to the class. * Students could illustrate step-by-step instructions for procedure writing. * Send students on a scavenger hunt, supplied with digital cameras. Have students assemble their digital images into an Animoto video to display what they found. I will try to get more familiar with the usage of Animoto so I could be ready for implementation during the next school year.

  1. Juan, this video is fantastic. We learn a lot about you and your family. It is terrific that you were also able to get few videos into the Animoto. Thank you for sharing and for becoming so adept with using the program.

  2. Juan, I really like the use of Animoto to introduce yourself and share about your family! I like that you might use this with new students in the fall. I think older students would love this program and find that project entertaining, yet challenging.

  3. Your Animoto evoked such strong emotions from me. Your pictures seemed so selectively and thoughtfully chosen to tell the beautiful story of your family. I am so amazed with your abilities to include videos in your Animoto. Can you show me how you did that? I'm not certain my students would be able to create an Animoto of their own but I could make one for the beginning of the year to introduce myself. Great idea!

  4. Wow Juan, this was an amazing video. The videos within the Animoto really gave it a special touch and I agree with Shaquan that it was obvious that your pictures were so carefully selected. The captions also made the entire video extra personal and something your family will appreciate for years to come! I also like your idea you mentioned in your blog post about having students create Animotos within the first couple weeks of school to share their family and culture with the class!
